A5.4 - The Summer Edition’

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the Cairns Regional Gallery…

March the 9th sees Cairns’ own, The Upholstery Contemporary Arts gang mixing it up again, when they re-open their current exhibition, Transience and the launch of the highly anticipated, issue four of the groups own art maga’zine A5 ~ The Summer Edition.

This is the biggest issue of A5 yet! Jammed full of the hottest new creations from urban/street artists and designers all over the north and a crew from Brisbane as well!
Editor and local artist/designer Laila Whiteing, has crafted and evolved A5 into a thriving self-funded lowbrow-art-organism. Able to showcase and ‘exhibit amazing and quirky print works that would not normally be seen outside of a sketchbook or computer.

A5.4 ~ The Summer Edition features Malakai Aird, Simon Avery, Buella Blue, Lawrence Cook, Lara Doolette, Manus Flanagan, Dale Holden, Michael Mag, Caroline Mudge, Lachlan Phillips, Kane Raybould, Paul Summerfield, Marcel Varna, Daniel (Wally) Wallwork, Laila Whiteing and Brock Yoko.

Don’t miss the opportunity to get your hands on the limited 100, goody-filled, custom-made, artist editions that will be for sale only at the re-opening of the Transience exhibition at the Cairns Regional Gallery. Standard editions of A5 will be available the following week at selected outlets locally and interstate.

The re-opening of Transience will also unveil new changes to several of the fantastic artworks on display and audience members can become part of another, adding to the transient nature of the exhibition.

Local band Peep Show will be passin’ through on the night, with their funky on-the-move sound, and the gallery will be operating a licensed bar.
